Make the habit small enough to keep

What privacy here actually means — and what it costs
Everything written in this journal stays in the browser it was written in. It is not uploaded, not synced and not held by us in any form, which means we could not read an entry, hand one over or lose one in a breach, because we never receive it in the first place.
That design has a real cost, and it is only fair to state it. There is no backup. If you clear your browser’s site data, use private browsing, or switch to a different device or browser, the entries are gone and we cannot restore them — there is nothing on our side to restore them from. The Export button exists for exactly this reason: it copies your entries out so you can keep them somewhere of your own choosing.
If a journal matters to you, export it every so often. That single habit is the difference between privacy being a feature and privacy being a loss.
