The deboss: pressing a verse into the grain
The Bible verse on each piece is debossed — pressed into the leather with a heated metal die — rather than printed on top. Heat and pressure push the design down into the fibers of the hide itself, so the words become part of the leather’s surface instead of sitting on it. That is also why a debossed verse does not crack, peel, or fade the way a printed graphic can: there is no ink layer to wear away, just the leather itself, shaped.
The eyeglass case is the one exception in the lineup — it is left plain, without a debossed verse, by design.
Why full-grain, specifically
Full-grain is the least processed leather grade: nothing is sanded away to hide natural marks, and no heavy coating is added to smooth it out artificially. That means visible grain and some natural tone variation from piece to piece — not a flaw, but a sign the hide was left as it was. It is also the grade that takes a deboss cleanly and holds it well over years of handling, which matters for something meant to be carried rather than displayed.
